Everyone who meets Jimbo just falls in love with him. He is so smart, kind, and honest. He's the same mule every day whether he's in regular work or just pulled out of the field. We're not entirely sure of his history as he was bought as a green project but since being here he has done nothing but impress. He is solid and comfortable to ride with a ground covering trot, smooth lope,  and big stop on "whoa." He will ride one-handed but for more precision prefers two hands. He goes in a plain snaffle but could easily be introduced to more bit. He very willingly pops over small jumps and obstacles. He is very safe and honest, but he's a light and sensitive guy so he prefers his rider to know how to ride a little bit - not a good match for a true beginner quite yet.

On the ground Jimbo has excellent manners. He is light to handle and not pushy at all. Like most mules, he never forgets a thing and probably had a scary experience with a farrier at some point in his life. We are still building confidence with the professional farrier, but he willingly allows his regular people to handle and trim his feet. Jimbo self loads in the trailer. He stands quietly to be tacked and groomed. Straight ties and cross ties. He's happy in a stall or turned out. One of his best features is that he's totally unbothered by heat or bugs! He has maintained his condition well living out 24/7 all summer.

 

Jimbo is going to make an excellent partner for his next person. He's eager to progress in any formal discipline, or to hit the trails for  the next adventure.
